I Absolutely LOVE this Art Deco waterfall buffet from the 40’s -50’s era. Hubs picked it up on one of his good “treasure find” days.. and when he brought it home, he was so elated!! It was in amazing original condition. I was instantly in love, but then shortly thereafter… I realized the color did not go with my decor as much I would have liked.. Boy this piece was a bit of controversy in our house for a few months!! We went back and forth… should we refinish it… no, yes, no… ugh!! It became exhausting!! Hubs wanted to leave it alone … and I wasn’t happy with the color! I finally determined I wouldn’t LOVE IT if it wasn’t refinished. As it sat in our dining room for a couple of months.. unfinished.. I started shopping for another buffet that was a little longer and that would fit my space better (although this piece had the PERFECT height)! Ugh decisions, decisions.. Needless to say, I ended up finding another buffet that fit my dining room space a little better..
Since we decided to sell it… hubs said … fine.. this one is MINE!! Since I found this awesome piece, I’m refinishing it all by myself!!! A couple of weeks later, with very little coaching…. he did an AMAZING job!! SO VERY Proud of him!!
I’m going to be honest I LOVE Refinishing, but I’m not a super fan of the priming and the base coat.. I wish every piece was already sanded, primed and base coated for me and then I can jump right into the glazing, distressing, waxing, etc… Sooo.. basically I LOVE the”finishing” part!! Needless to say, this was one of my easier pieces because of using ASCP (Annie Sloan Chalk Paint) which eliminates the sanding and priming step… so hubs got to work and he did an amazing job!! I was able to jump in a do the final finishing touches and we were BOTH happy with our refinished Buffet!! Hope you all like it!!
On a side note.. I apologize for posting a “new project” already SOLD!! This was not my intention. I posted this piece on Craigslist and sold it faster than I was able to post it on the blog!! I promise next time I will get my pieces up and posted on the blog first before I post them on Craigslist. Also.. as I continue to Post, I will be explaining a little more about the paints, techniques and steps involved with refinishing each piece…
I will also be posting some eclectic wall finishes and entire room makeovers VERY VERY SOON!!!
In the meantime… please stay tuned for my next post… my very first ASCP project… “Pamela Blue” …
