It’s been awhile my friends and I’ve been itchin’ to get on here and post! I’M SOO SOO BEHIND!
I’ve been sick with the flu… so now I’m taking advantage of this time to sit at my computer & POST!!
Even though this project was completed A YEAR ago . . . It’s never too late to post about it!
So here goes!
I had this vision for a really long sofa table behind my couch.
Industrial style, with wood of course!
So I sketched up what I wanted!
I had a friend build & weld the frame with 2″ steel tubing.
He did a semi-rusted finish to it, and the sealed it!
So I brought it into the house to make sure all looked good, height, depth etc.
This new sofa table would soon replace this large black TV stand that I was using as a sofa table… 😀
This table was 90″ long so I had to buy 8′ long boards.
I wanted the top and lower shelf to have a really chunky look,
so I purchased 3- 2×8’s for for the top, and 3- 2×6’s for the bottom shelf.
Now time to start ripping the wood!
For the top I had to cut down each board to approx 6″ width and 90″ length.
For the bottom shelf I had to cut them down to 5.5″ width and again 90″ length.
I sanded the top to a very smooth finish, and then I sanded the edges to have a slightly rounded look.
I stained the boards with Minwax Provincial Stain, and then did a very light driftwood stain on top.
Did a final dry run to make sure everything fit . . .which it did! Yay!
