Hi Friends! Ok so I’ve been dying to share this post with you!
We started this project in January and tackled it little by little on the weekends.
We completed the project in stages.
First, my husband tackled the demo. Then he conquered the shower area renovation.
When that was all done,
I tackled the sinks, cabinets, mirrors & decor. (all of that on Next Post)
It took a little longer than I wanted . . . but by May it was complete!
Anyway, regardless of how long it took, I’m super PROUD of this project!
This was a complete D-I-Y that my husband had tackled . . . alone.
Yes that’s right. ALONE. We agreed he would tackle the shower area by himself,
while I worked on our other bathroom/powder room renovation
(which involved constructing a vanity . . . stay tuned I’ll be posting about it)
So needless to say he was a little apprehensive. This was something he had never done before!
Sure he’s tiled a backsplash in a kitchen, but not an ENTIRE bathroom on his own!
So first things first, I took a little trip to Floor & Decor
(my favorite Flooring Store in the whole world!)
I picked out this 12″ x 24″ Greige porcelain tile.
At first I thought it was going to be too big, but once I saw it displayed I realized it was perfect!
I also picked out this mosaic tile sheet as an accent tile.
I wasn’t quite sure how or where we were going to use it. So I bought a few extra just in case.
I loved the contrast of both tiles with the wood floors. This was a DONE deal for me.
Here’s a BEFORE shot of the bathroom:

But for NOW lets see the DEMO!!!
COMPLETE drywall & tub removal
Here hubby installed the new tub & replaced the drywall with Hardibacker,
also known as cement board. We planned on tiling all the way up to the ceiling.
Hubs installed this EZ Niche.
It’s a recessed shower shelf to hold shampoo, conditioner bottles, etc . . .
Here he painted all seams with this green stuff, Red Gard is also another alternative.
We used this green product because that’s what Floor and Decor sold
and I honestly didn’t want to make a separate trip to Home Depot!
Same stuff, just a different color. So who cares right?
Tile is started! Hubs had his companion Coors to help through the project 🙂
I have no more progression photos to share! Not sure if I lost them or what happened?
So we will fast forward to the completion of the shower area . . .
Ready to see this part done?? What do you think??
We used the Tile Mosaic Sheets as a border around the window,
We also used it along the edge of the shower
and the EZ Niche Recessed Shelf.
Its amazing when you can go from this to this:
Tomorrow I will reveal the entire bathroom renovation,
including a Step-By-Step Tutorial of the Concrete Counters that I built for this bathroom!
Dont miss it! I also made custom mirrors, painted the cabinets and decorated!
I also did something really really DUMB that landed me in the hospital for a week. . .
Sooooo . . . Stay Tuned!
