Golden Pearl Sideboard & Arabesque Wall

I know it seems that I’m in love with blue as it seems all my posts have involved some sort of shade of blue!! The truth is … I AM!! I promise.. I’ve done lots of pieces in tons of other colors.. and I will be sharing them soon..  But I wanted to share some of my more recent projects with you first… and they obviously show my present OBSESSION for this color!!

I know I’ve only been posting about furniture thus far, but I also wanted to share with you a recent wall finish that just blows me away!!

This story started in the fall of 2011… still can’t believe its been that long!! We found this old sideboard that used to be in an old farmhouse. The lady who was selling it really had a hard time parting with it.. I assured her it was going in good hands! Because this piece had mirrored doors it reminded me of a Metallic Gold sideboard I had been eyeballing at Z Gallerie… hmmm.. do I dare?? metallic paint??

I was dying to try the Martha Stewart metallic paint line. In my frequent… yes usually daily… visits to Home Depot I had already collected 3 of her paint colors and 4 glazes! The decision was obvious.. I used Golden Pearl as the base coat and glazed it with Black Coffee.

The wall finish didn’t come until a year later… YES A WHOLE YEAR!! I knew I wanted a stenciled wall, but had no idea what color or what design?? This little hallway was the first thing you see when you walk into my house, so I felt it had to be dramatic!!

Once, I finally made some time to tackle this project, I started shopping for the stencil. After a couple of weeks of searching, I finally ordered 3 different ones from Royal Design Studio. Once I held each one up on the wall, I knew exactly which one I would use!! Arabesque All Over stencil.

Now there’s the paint color?? I’ve always been in love with Martha Stewart’s color “Plumage”.  Because it was such a BOLD color, I couldn’t bring myself to using it!! Hmmm? Do I dare?? Decisions decisions…  I decided to use it, and after I applied it … I was instantly IN LOVE!!

I then went back and forth with the top coat stencil color! I wanted it to be Metallic, but what?? Silver.. Gold… Silver… ?! Thank goodness for the quick emergency trip to Home Depot that day! What did I find in the Oops paint?? A gallon container (only about 1/4 left) of Martha Stewart’s Precious Metals Paint, Tide Pool … NO WAY!! This metallic light blue was the perfect solution to my dilemma!! For $7 I scooped it right up and started the stencil that day!! I am absolutely in love with the final finish of the wall and the sideboard!! Hope you like it!

Please feel free to comment and ask any questions you may have!

Broken moulding pieces… no need to fix or replace.. JUST REMOVE!

After a base coat of Golden Pearl …

Next Step… Black Coffee Glaze…

Ohhh.. so pretty… but what a lonely, BORING, wall….

Silver?? Gold??? my head hurts….

Wow! What a huge difference after the Plumage Base Coat!! Should I just stop here??

Oh my!!! SOOOO exciting!!! I didn’t want to stop!!!

Ooooooo.. I can honestly say I’ve never been in LOVE with a wall finish… UNTIL NOW~
